A beloved New York radio personality is gone.
Radio station WNYC says Steve Post died on Sunday at age 70 after battling lung and colon cancer.
Post hosted WNYC's "Morning Music" from 1982 to 2001. He returned to the station in 2002 to host "The No Show," a quirky combination of music and commentary.
Post began his professional career at New York's WBAI radio starting in 1965.
The Bronx native said he loved radio since he was a boy.
He'd make pretend radio shows on his father's recorder, creating personalities and talking to them.
A description on the WNYC website celebrated the irreverent Post as "a world-class curmudgeon" with a decades-long "cult following."
