Patchogue enjoys a rebirth

After a period of decline in which many stores along Main Street sat boarded up and empty, the Village of Patchogue, as seen in early 2014, has re-invented itself as a vibrant destination for diners and shoppers. A building boom has created hundreds of new housing units that have brought new residents, many of them young professionals, into the village. New artist's lofts and a renovated theater have transformed Patchogue into an arts and entertainment hub. (Credit: Newsday / John Paraskevas)
