Every Saturday and Sunday through the fall, Joe’s Garage and Grill of Riverhead (recently named one of Newsday's top 10 gastropubs and top 100 restaurants)  will have a food stand set up outside the tasting room of Macari Vineyards in Cutchogue. Weather permitting, of course. (Macari Vineyards was recently named the state's "winery of the year" at the 2014 New York Wine & Food Classic).

Istanbul Grill & Bar is serving hummus, falafel and shish kebab in the Hewlett space that formerly hosted Mermaid.

According to owner Aydener Aykanat, the place has a liquor license and also offers local delivery. In charge of the kitchen is chef Yasar Ilik, who formerly cooked at Chicken Kebab in Roslyn Heights.

Texas Taco opened earlier this summer in Sayville, serving a Tex-Cal-Mex assortment of tortilla-based dishes: tacos, nachos, fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, wraps and taco salads.

Will Breakstone, the competition champ pitmaster known as Willie B, has parted ways with South Shore BBQ Company in Patchogue, which opened back in March. The restaurant made Newsday's Top 100 list in the category of barbecue restaurants.

In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick reviews Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas in Garden City’s Gallery at Westbury Plaza. Spanish wines will highlight a dinner at Vitae in Huntington on Aug. 20.

The cost of the Wednesday night wine-pairing dinner is $75 plus tax and tip. Reservations are required. Dinner starts at 7 p.m.

Althouse 1848 is new to the restaurant scene in East Rockaway. The bi-level gastropub occupies a landmark structure that dates back to 1848. On the ground level, there's a bar and outdoor patio; a dining room with another bar occupies the second floor.

Devotees of Poco Loco, a Mexican restaurant in Roslyn, will have to wait a few weeks before returning for a fajita-and-Margarita fix.

The casual, colorful spot recently had a kitchen fire. Harendra Singh, president of the Singh Hospitality Group, which owns Poco Loco, said that it is undergoing  renovation (mostly in the kitchen) and should soon be opening in a “new and improved” state.

Macari in Mattituck named Winery of the Year at New York Wine & Food Classic

Macari Vineyards & Winery was named the state's "winery of the year" at the 2014 New York Wine & Food Classic. The Mattituck winery also won for "best red wine" for its 2012 cabernet franc.

Sparkling Pointe in Southold received the honors for "best sparkling wine" and "best vinifera sparkling white" wine, both for its 2005 Brut Seduction.

Shark Week at Reel in East Rockaway

In case you didn’t know, Discovery Channel is in the midst of its annual Shark Week, when its programming features shows like “Jaws Strikes Back," "Monster Hammerhead” and “Sharkageddon.”
