Islandia village trustee also a village employee
An Islandia village employee has been elected a village trustee - a position in which he serves as his own boss. And that's a breach of state law, according to the state Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials, an authority on New York Village Law.
Michael Zaleski, hired as a code enforcement officer in 2005, ran unopposed for trustee on March 18.
