If Sarah Palin isn't your typical vice presidential nominee, she definitely won't be your typical Big Apple tourist.

Palin has plans to visit the city next week for a pro-Israel, anti-Iran rally and to partake in the meet-and-greet of foreign diplomats descending upon the United Nations for the General Assembly.

However, no visit to New York is complete without time to let down your hair.

amNewYork has put together a guide to Gotham befitting of the Alaskan governor. This way, she'll have more than a foam Statue of Liberty crown to remember us by.

To see Central Park is a big draw for tourists and natives alike, but one attraction is sure to make Palin yearn for her home state. A bronze statute of Balto, an Alaskan sled dog who helped to save a community from diphtheria, is perched near the children's zoo.

And while she's in the sprawling park, Seth Kamil, president of the Big Onion Walking Tours, advises she stop in the zoo to visit with Gus and the other resident polar bears. "Soon enough, they may be the only polar bears left," joked Kamil, referencing the debate over global warming .

On the architectural front, the Lipstick Building on Third Avenue in midtown would earn a chuckle from Palin. Whether on a hockey mom, pit bull or pig, the makeup staple has become symbolic of her vice presidential push.

To play There's not nearly enough open space in most of New York City to hunt, but Staten Island is an exception. The Staten Island Sportsmen's Club offers trapshooting in the right season, Kamil suggested.

"It's the only place in the city where you can legally fire a shotgun outside," he said.

To shop and primp Shop Gotham, a group that offers guided shopping tours of the city's hottest neighborhoods, recommends the Fur District, a section within the Garment District.

"They're just dying for her business, a statement that's relevant on 15 different levels," said a Shop Gotham spokeswoman.

Palin may also want to update her hairstyle at one of Frederic Fekkai's world-famous salons, Shop Gotham pointed out. And if the vice presidential nominee chooses to fall back on her beehive favorite? Pimps & Pinups, a London-based salon that specializes in "period hair-ups," is set to open on the Lower East Side.

To dine Mooseburgers are a staple in the Palin family, but unfortunately, they're not too common in New York City. That's not to say we don't appreciate big-game eating.

Peasant, in Nolita, comes highly recommended, as does Jean Georges' restaurants and Cobble Hill's Waterfront Ale House, which boasts a savory venison and black - bean chili.

Palin will love her visit, said Tiffany Townsend, of NYC & Company, the city's tourism department.

"New York has something for everyone, all ages and all interests."
