Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced appointments Wednesday to his three commissions charged with improving New York’s readiness for future storms and natural disasters. Biographies of the members are provided in a link at the bottom of the governor's news release.

The commissions won’t have much time to work — they are slated to present initial recommendations by Jan. 3.
