While Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was defending criticism from the political left that he went too far in helping corporations and banks in the budget, Senate co-leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) was embracing it, in a sense.

Skelos, in his closing remarks on the Senate floor last week, criticized the “tax the rich mantra.” He said he was glad Home Depot founder Ken Langone was successful enough to fund the NYU Langone Medical Center in New York and added, “if you want world-class cancer treatment, you go to Sloan-Kettering, where the Koch Brothers have contributed $100 million.”

The Kochs and Langone have contributed to Cuomo, among many other candidates.
