Fallout widens from appellate ruling on Nassau taxes
As passed along by Newsday's Celeste Hadrick, Frank Moroney, senior adviser to Nassau's GOP legislative majority, said Wednesday night that counsel is reviewing the Appellate Division decision that knocks down the county's pass-along of school-tax refund obligations.
Democratic legislative minority leader Kevan Abrahams was more expansive.
He said: “The Democratic caucus voted against the unconstitutional law of shifting this $80 million annual cost onto school taxpayers. We're all in this together, but we need Mangano to start delivering real solutions to the problem he promised to fix.“
Political tea-leaf readers also took note that Justice Peter Skelos was among the four unanimous votes on the appellate panel overturning the prior decision by Thomas Adams, recently appointed administrative judge for Nassau's 10th Judicial District.
