Flak-out: State agency PIO list does not 'cell' well
There’s a notable lack of information in the Cuomo administration’s new directory of public information officers. Unlike the Paterson, Spitzer or Pataki regimes, this administration does not list home numbers and cell-phone numbers for agency flaks.
Providing such info is fairly standard. It can come in handy in case there is, say, a prison riot or tanker truck rollover after normal business hours.
Instead the new directory lists only office numbers and e-mail addresses for PIOs (which the other administrations also provided).
Perhaps it’s a nice way to funnel all calls through the governor’s communications office. That leaves reporters only one after-hours dialing option: instead of contacting the agency, call the gov’s spokesmen.
