Previous reports about Hillary Clinton aide and Anthony Weiner spouse Huma Abedin doing outside consultant work while on the State Department payroll got new exposure with word that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is making further inquiries about the arrangement from his perch as ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Clinton, of course, is the focus of 2016 presidential speculation and Abedin’s in the spotlight and appearing in commercials as Weiner runs for mayor with a war chest collected before a sexting-and-lying scandal forced him from Congress two years ago.

Clinton has given every appearance of staying aloof from the NYC mayor’s race in which Mayor Michael Bloomberg, dissatisfied with the field of potential successors despite a fiasco-prone third term at City Hall, reportedly asked the ex-senator to run for the job.
