The Cuomo administration loves yogurt.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and staff have traveled the state promoting the business and recently held a ribbon-cutting for a new yogurt manufacturing plant in Batavia, about halfway between Rochester and Buffalo. Chobani, the national leader in Greek yogurt sold in grocery stores, is headquartered in Chenango County.

This week, his staff is hosting a “Yogurt Summit” to bring together dairy farmers and yogurt producers to try to continue the momentum.

“We have a cluster economy around yogurt,” Cuomo said. “We want to see how state can help (producers) grow their business.”
