The severe thunderstorm that rushed through Long Island on Wednesday afternoon flooded the Mineola basement offices of the Civil Service Employees Association, union officials said.

A backup in the building's stormwater pipe caused nearly 3 inches of flooding throughout the union offices.

While the Department of Public Works cleaned up the mess, the union will need to replace 5,000 square feet of carpeting, according to CSEA spokesman Ryan Mullholland.

The flooding was the third for CSEA in the past seven years.
