Obama trip just happens to coincide with GOP convention

Isn’t the timing convenient?

President Barack Obama will visit Westchester County on Wednesday -- the same day state Republicans kick off their nominating convention just a few miles down the road.

Obama will be in Tarrytown to speak about infrastructure and tout Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s plan for a new Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River. Meanwhile, 12 miles east-southeast in Rye Brook, Republicans open their two-day state convention. GOP gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino -- who also happens to be Westchester County executive - is expected to be formally nominated Thursday.
