Probe of lawmaker allowed to cover speaker's settlement actions
A deputy administrative judge in Brooklyn has permitted Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan, the Republican special prosecutor in the Assemb. Vito Lopez sexual harassment case, to cover in his review the past settlement of cases with female staffers.
This has the provocative political effect of putting Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver into the spotlight even with no allegations having yet been issued by either Donovan or the state's ethics panel, which is reported to be limiting its inquiry to Lopez.
