Professional group honors Suffolk comptroller's office with award

Suffolk Comptroller Joseph Sawicki’s office has received honors for its “excellence in financial reporting” from the Govenment Finance Officers Association.

The group, which represents 16,000 local government finance officials in the United States and Canada, found Suffolk’s financial reporting demonstrates “a spirit of full disclosure.” Sawicki said the honor “earns us the confidence of Wall Street rating agencies” which helps the county get lower interest rates.
