A fundraiser last week for Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington) was reported to have drawn mor than 550 people to the Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale. Organizers said a total of $325,000 was raised with a single top donation of $5,200.

Legis. Steve Stern (D-Huntington) introduced him. Stern reportedly said the congressman had been offered the opportunity to go on Air Force One with President Barack Obama to Israel (the nation), but that Israel (the congressman) opted to tend to local matters and attend the event instead.
