ALBANY -- Onondaga County Comptroller Robert Antonacci has announced his Republican campaign against state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

"In Onondaga County, I've proven I'm not afraid to stand up and fight against government inefficiency," Antonacci said Wednesday. "I've performed countless audits and have worked with officials of both parties to find solutions.  I want to take this experience and bring it to our state government."

Antonacci is a lawyer and certified public accountant. DiNapoli, had a career in the Assembly before becoming state comptroller.

Antonacci has won two terms to the county comptroller’s job.

Comptrollers audit government finances. The state comptroller is also the sole trustee of the massive public employee pension fund.

DiNapoli was first appointed to the job by a joint session of the Legislature after Democratic Comptroller Alan Hevesi resigned amid several scandals.
