Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union backs Haber against Martins
The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union is backing Democrat Adam Haber in his race against Republican State Sen. Jack Martins (R-Mineola) in Nassau’s 7th district.
The union, which represents 100,000 members across the country, pointed to Haber’s support for an increase to the state’s minimum wage as one of the key reasons for the endorsement.
“This is an important election that will determine the political direction of Nassau County, and we are proud to stand behind Adam Haber,” said RWDSU Local 1102 President Frank Bail. “He’s on the right side of the issues that matter to RWDSU members.”
Haber, an East Hills businessman and Roslyn school board member, ran unsuccessfully for Nassau County executive last year, losing a Democratic primary to Thomas Suozzi. The district includes Valley Stream, Westbury, Great Neck and Port Washington.
“I look forward to working with RWDSU as a state senator to improve the lives of working people,” Haber said.
