Suffolk: Aide departs Bishop's office for Bellone's

Lisa M. Wieber-Santeramo, who served as an aide and campaign manager for Rep. Timothy Bishop (D-Southampton) in his two bitter battles against millionaire Republican Randy Altschuler, is leaving his office to join the Bellone administration next month.

She will fill the $109,850-a-year vacancy left by assistant deputy county executive Ben Zwirn when he went to work for Suffolk Community College, however her initial focus will be on working with FEMA on issues related to the aftermath of superstorm Sandy. A Stony Brook resident, Wieber-Santeramo, 30, is part of a political power couple. Her husband, Michael, is a top aide to Nassau Democratic chairman Jay Jacobs.

Party sources say that Bishop has reached out to Brian Beedenbender, who ran a losing election last month for Brookhaven supervisor, to become a possible replacement, but the former county lawmaker has not yet decided because he is also weighing several offers in the private sector.
