Suffolk Exec Bellone taps another from Babylon
The government-employee pipeline between Babylon and Suffolk resumed operation last week as County Executive Steve Bellone brought on another of his former town aides.
Tim Ruggeri, who served as a spokesman when Bellone was Babylon Town supervisor, and had been filling the role for current Supervisor Rich Schaffer, began as a county executive assistant on Dec. 24, at an annual salary of $95,000. He replaces Ed Moltzen, who becomes an assistant information technology commissioner.
Ruggeri serves under communications director Vanessa Baird-Streeter, who also worked with Bellone in Babylon. With chief deputy Regina Calcaterra on leave to head the state probe into utilities’ storm performance – and possibly not returning, as previously noted -- county attorney Dennis Cohen, once Bellone’s town attorney, has become the executive’s chief adviser.
