Suffolk Leg. bill allows top Islip Dem to recoup lost land

A Suffolk legislative resolution that allowed Islip Democratic chairman Gerard Pallotta to recover property in North Babylon that he lost in 2011 for failing to pay property taxes was approved last week.

The resolution, approved on the consent calendar without debate, requires Pallotta to pay $4,100 in back taxes, interest and penalties to take back the 87-by-90-foot plot, which real estate officials said has a garage-like structure.

Pallotta, who lives in West Islip, declined to comment.
