Nassau: No county post for lame-duck Freeport mayor

Contrary to insider buzz, defeated Freeport Mayor Andrew Hardwick will not be joining Nassau Executive Edward Mangano's administration, a source close to Mangano told Newsday.

Rumors circulated that Hardwick, defeated by Robert Kennedy in a March 19 village election, would be hired by Mangano for a post in Nassau's Department of Parks, Recreation & Museums - where Hardwick worked under former county executive Thomas Suozzi. But a source close to Mangano said this week that "that's not on the horizon."

Kennedy will be sworn in as mayor on Monday.
