Washington veteran Morgan Broman became chief of staff to Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola) a week ago after Georgette Perros Sierra left to join the Financial Services Roundtable, which lobbies for banks, insurance companies and investment firms.

Broman came from the Committee for Economic Development, a centrist business think tank. But he also has worked for Lockheed Martin, the FCC and two other congressmen.

Broman said he will help McCarthy wind down her office, decide where to deposit her papers and smooth the transition. It's a job he said he did for the late Rep. Edward P. Boland (D-Mass.) when Boland retired in 1988 after 36 years in office. ‚Äč
