In his effort to unseat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola), Legis. Francis Becker (R-Lynbrook) touted an endorsement this past week from State Sen. Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx).
Diaz, an opponent of abortion rights known to take stands to the right of his party colleagues, was quoted in the endorsement announcement as saying that he and Becker “share the same values and he had pledged to work with me in addressing the concerns and needs within the Latino community.”
Becker, also vying on the ballot against Conservative nominee Frank Scaturro, said the endorsement “proves that party for Latinos is no longer the deciding factor in whom they will support."
