In the wake of the GOP's Massachusetts upset last week, the Washington-based Rothenberg Political Report no longer thinks Rep. Tim Bishop's re-election bid is a sure thing.

In new ratings posted Monday morning, the report shifted the four-term Democrat from Southampton from its "Favored Democrat" category to "Lean Democrat."

That doesn't mean Bishop's race is a tossup or that a Republican will oust him, but it indicates some GOP momentum.

Bishop's race is one of 28 Democratic seats that the report moved in the direction of Republicans on Monday. But the report does not rate any of the eight New York House Democrats as pure tossups, or likely or even leaning toward Republican takeovers.

"All of the moves (made in House race ratings) benefit the GOP, either because Republican districts now look safer or Democratic districts appear more vulnerable," wrote the report's Nathan Gonzales.
