State Republicans have created a new post within the party structure to try to reach Asian Americans.
GOP Chairman Ed Cox on Friday named Oliver Tan, a former Pataki administration staffer, as the party’s Director of Asian Pacific American Strategic Initiatives.
"New York prides itself on being one of the most diverse states in the country, and we want to be able share our principles and ideas with all of our communities," Cox said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have Oliver join us as we look to keep building relationships with Asian communities throughout New York."
Tan has worked on numerous Republican campaigns and served as a liaison to the Asian community under former Gov. George Pataki.
