The question may well be who former Sen. Al D'Amato was trying to help when he went on NY1 News last night and mocked Council Speaker Christine Quinn's tearful revelations to the Times of past bulimia and alcoholism. He called her a hack and said in mock whine, "I'm crying. My campaign is suffering. I'm going down."

D'Amato is the second largest bundler for rival Bill Thompson, per the previous financial disclosure filings.

Thompson said in an education speech Wednesday that he found Quinn's comments " to be inspiring. Hopefully, they provide guidance to younger people and women who struggle with these issues."

Many years ago D'Amato made waves with a Japanese-accented burlesque of Judge Lance Ito.
