The drumbeat to draft former Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi to run for his old job appears to be growing.

Party insiders are circulating a video of Suozzi’s introduction at last month’s county Democratic Committee dinner, where the former two-term county executive received a standing ovation. The crowd also erupted in a loud “we want Suozzi” chant.

Suozzi has said repeatedly that he is not interested in challenging GOP County Executive Edward Mangano in November. Mangano defeated Suozzi in a tight race in 2009.

But, Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs is lobbying Suozzi to enter the race after District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced on Thursday that she would run for re-election, bypassing higher office.

Here is copy of the email being disseminated by Democratic officials,  ----with the subject line "Time to Draft Suozzi," and the video from the dinner.

Now that Kathleen Rice has officially declared she will not run for County Executive, the Democratic Party needs to get behind Suozzi and ask him to run.

Check out the enthusiasm many still have for Suozzi from this year’s Democratic dinner:
