Freeport Mayor Andrew Hardwick is hosting a $300-a-plate fundraiser at the Garden City Hotel next month to celebrate his first year in office. Hardwick invited as keynote speaker Earlene Hooper Hill (D-Hempstead), the deputy speaker of the state Assembly. Hooper Hill has requested $50 million of federal aid on behalf of Freeport, according to a February letter written by Hooper. The fundraiser is scheduled for April 16 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
