The committee, which dubbed itself “New York Jobs Now,” is running ads to promote a “yes” vote on Proposition 1 this year, a proposal to amend the state constitution to allow seven non-Indian-run casinos. The group is a coalition of unions and business interests, including the New York State Business Council.

This week, the committee reported receiving $250,000 from Yonkers Raceway, $125,000 from American Racing & Entertainment (which operates Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier), $50,000 from Nevele Investors LLC (a subsidiary of a company interested in gambling resorts in the Catskills) and $50,000 from the Oneida Nation.
