Sometimes in politics, the organization-backed candidates lose a primary. So what do party leaders do? Well, in New York, with its cross-endorsement deals, the leaders can support someone who isn't on their own line -- as the GOP organization in Glen Cove has done in the case of two council candidates who won nominations as insurgents.
