ALBANY _ Republican Rob Astorino is planning his first major fundraiser in his campaign for governor, but his ticket price is a fraction of the usual rate for Democratic Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s events.

Astorino plans a March 26 fundraiser in Westchester County, where he is the second-term county executive. The top price is $5,000 to be in the “chairman’s club.” That buys four tickets, cocktails and a chat with Astorino. The lowest cost tickets are $250 a seat at the Tarrytown event in the Westchester Marriot.

In December, Cuomo held his annual birthday fundraiser at Manhattan’s storied Roseland Ballroom at $50,000 a ticket. Entertainment was provided by Billy Joel, who rewrote lyrics of his hit “Honesty” for Cuomo.

Cuomo has more than $33 million in his campaign account.

Astorino was scheduled to be in Albany Friday on the second day of his statewide tour to announce his candidate against Cuomo.
