In his first year, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo kicked off the legislative session by calling for a 2 percent property-tax cap and a spending freeze. In year two, he focused on casino gambling and expanding a criminal database.

Now, in year three, he called for new gun laws, a minimum-wage hike and a women’s rights program. But he bristled at the widespread notion he’s tacked to the left.

“Last year they wrote I made a right turn,” Cuomo said. “This year they wrote I made a left turn. I think I’ve been going straight all along... I said when I ran I would run on a platform of being fiscally responsible and socially progressive.

“And I think that’s what we’ve done here.”
