Legis. Jacobs persists in Nassau push for tobacco-at-21 law

Nassau Legis. Judy Jacobs is still fighting for the county to join Suffolk and New York City in raising the purchase age for tobacco products to 21. Early this year, after the neighboring municipalities did so, Jacobs (D-Woodbury) was rebuffed by county GOP lawmakers.

Now, she has given them and County Executive Edward Mangano a new 90-page binder (“Tobacco 21 — the Time is Now!”) that includes numerous studies and testimonials in supporting the action.

“I’ve been met with resistance on every level,” Jacobs said. “At this point, I just hope they read it.”
