Nassau County Legis. Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) said she really wanted that quarter-pound hamburger in Wendy’s on Jericho Turnpike last week, but saw on the menu board that it was 450 calories.

“I had something else,” Jacobs told her fellow legislators as she urged them not to repeal a law requiring the posting of calories by fast-food outlets.

Her pitch didn’t work, and the Republican majority repealed the bill Monday. [See Newsday story here.]

Jacobs said later that she opted for a baked potato, 320 calories, and a diet soda, no calories.
