The chairman of the Nassau County Conservative Party, Roger Bogsted, returns from a long holiday weekend to face an internal fight over which Republican to support in the race against Democratic U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy in the 4th CD.

Conservatives have already endorsed Nassau County Legis. Francis X. Becker of Lynbrook, but supporters of Frank Scaturro tried to get Conservatives to give their guy permission, called a Wilson-Pakula, to run in a Conservative Primary against Becker.

At a meeting last week, sources said, there was a 10-9 vote to give a Wilson-Pakula to Scaturro, but then there was a second vote and it was a tie.

“There was a little bit of confusion,” Bogsted said in a brief interview Friday as he got ready for a long weekend getaway. “I’m having in-house counsel look at it. We’ll see next week.”
