“Hello to all members of the Bellmore — Merrick Democratic Club, Baldwin Democratic Club, Five Towns Democratic Club, Yes We Can Long Island and all freedom loving Democrats in Nassau County.
“It has come to our attention that Tea Party activists plan to disrupt or protest the Five Towns Democratic Club teleconference with Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy being held Thursday night @ 7:30 p.m. at the Woodmere-Hewlett Library.
“We are asking everyone to show support and solidarity with the Five Towns Club. Please attend and support for our Democratic Congresswoman and prevent the Tea Party from disrupting this event.”

A couple of Tea Party activists reached Thursday morning said they had heard nothing about a McCarthy protest, and had their own plans to attend evening rallies in Happauge, Hicksville and Rockville Centre to mark Tax Day, April 15th.

One of the Tea Party people, asking not to be identified, said it sounded to him like some liberal Democrats were trying to cause trouble for the Tea Party by spreading false rumors.

Club officials could not be reached for comment Thursday morning.

[UPDATE: McCarthy's people said they were not aware of any protest plans, but had pointed out to local Democratic officials that word of the meeting had been posted on a Dump Carolyn McCarthy page on Facebook]
