Town of North* Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman got a friendly reception on Thursday when he asked the Nassau County Planning Commission to approve a minor property swap in Manhasset.

The swap would clear the way for installation of a traffic light on Community Drive at Pond Hill Road near North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

After Kaiman made his pitch, Planning Commission Chairman Jeffrey Greenfield told him: “The chair left North Shore hospital while visiting someone and was rear-ended in an auto accident there. I have not been in many auto accidents in my life, and I remember the one I had that day ... because of traffic problems and confusion.”

The commission then gave its approval.
