Nassau Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs is attacking county executive candidate Adam Haber for his use of a Suffolk County marketing firm run by a former Republican political consultant.
Haber, a Democrat, hired Patchogue-based Public Relations and Marketing Group to run his Nassau Suggestion Box, a Web site where residents can vote on a host of issues. John Zaher, a registered Independent who worked for several GOP lawmakers, including former Rep. Rick Lazio, runs PRMG.
“For someone seeking the Democratic nomination for Nassau County executive, I’m surprised he couldn’t have found a business in Nassau to run his Web site,” said Jacobs, who is backing former County Executive Thomas Suozzi in a primary against Haber.
The Haber campaign countered that only a small fraction of PRMG’s clients are political, including the Long IslandProgressive Coalition and the Nassau Conservative Party.
“Unlike Tom Suozzi, who defends employers that deprive their employees of their hard earned wages, Adam is actually creating jobs right here in Nassau,” said Campaign Manager Justin Myers. “In fact, Adam is a part of Canrock Ventures, a business that has helped start-up 17 companies that have already created 58 jobs right here in Hicksville."
The Haber campaign notes that Suozzi sent Haber an e-mail last October – prior to either man entering the race – applauding his work on the Suggestion Box.
Haber and the Nassau Democrats each use a Manhattan-based firm, Inter Creative Media, to run their respective Web sites.
