Former Gov. Eliot Spitzer's initial sky-high poll numbers against Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer have fallen to earth, according to the latest numbers, which show the two Democratic candidates virtually tied now.

"I don't think this is pro-Stringer. This is all anti-Spitzer," said pollster Mike Berland. "I think we're seeing the white voters rejecting Spitzer."

He also said the race's secondary placement on the ballot behind the mayoral contest has an effect.
