Eligible voters with a New York State driver’s license or a state ID can now register to vote online, state officials announced Thursday. The online system is an update of the “motor voter” registration run by the Department of Motor Vehicles which processes 300,000 voter applications a year.
Less than 64 percent of eligible New York voters are registered and New York ranks 47th in the nation in voter registration, according Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office.
