Rather firmly and righteously — and showing some mayoral edge — NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio took off after a published claim citing no-name sources that he'd throw Police Commissioner Bill Bratton overboard for the sake of the Rev. Al Sharpton.

He called the report on the DNAInfo website "ludicrous, idiotic [and] inappropriate."

"I’m kind of sick of this notion of let's make everything about personalities and conflict,” he's widely quoted as saying..

“We are blessed to have Bill Bratton as our police commissioner. And he’s doing a great job and he and I are absolutely united in our approach to fighting crime and bringing police and community together."

One amusing aspect of the posting in question: It attributes specific quotations to "sources" or "insiders" -- in the plural -- as if a group of people made the same statement while speaking in a chorus.
