Though he wasn’t talking about toll hikes, he could have been. Cuomo sent a letter to leaders of the state Thruway Authority, whom he appointed, telling them that a proposed toll increase for the Tappan Zee Bride in the Hudson Valley was too high. For now, the plan is to raise the toll from the current $5 to $14.
Twelve months ago, the New York-New Jersey Port Authority approved a scaled-back toll hike on bridges and tunnels after Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said the authority’s proposed increase was too high.
