Jay Jacobs, the state and Nassau Democratic chairman, said he had a “good discussion” today with Gov. David A. Paterson.
“He understands the continuous flow of new pieces of information (on the David Johnson matter) is just not good, that he needs to staunch the bleeding, if you will. He needs to get his entire story together and get it out, as rapidly as he possibly can,” rather than keep stating that the investigation is in progress and he cannot speak, the chairman said.
He said he heard in detail the governor’s defense of the actions at issue and while he wouldn’t presume to speak for the governor, he finds it “plausible.”
Jacobs said, in essence, that the goal Is to move past the mess.
