Consider John Goplin, Speaker of My House, and his unwillingness to spend a dime more… on payments on his American Express card debt.

Goplin is the small-town character in a thinly-veiled send up of the House Republican leadership that Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington) published on the New Yorker's blog today. The blog item, complete with a black and white picture straight out of the 1950s, pokes fun at high living at Old Testament Town and Big Sal's Appliance City of Marysville but skipping out on the debt.

The question is - will the slick New Yorker who wrote the spoof get blow back from Ohio?
