Bernt as in a misspelling of cooked, sen as in running for Senator against Chuck Schumer.

They couldn't seem to pronounce the Smithtown man's name all day on the floor as the roll-call vote proceeded. But that doesn't matter now. He looks like he's on his way to a 51-plus-percent designation by his party on the second roll-call vote.

On the first roll-callround, Nassau Comptroller George Maragos fell short with only 17.96 percent, but Jay Townsend qualifies for a primary without having to file thousands of petition signatures, since he got 37.58 percent. Townsend won the Conservative nod on Friday.
