John and Rachel Mangano, parents of the Nassau County executive, have been here in Tampa for the convention. After listening to ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani address the delegation Thursday, John Mangano said Giuliani deserved "tremendous credit" for the job he did in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.

Along with Edward Mangano, country controller George Maragos is here, as is former Legis. John Ciotti, now counsel to the Nassau University Medical Center.

From elsewhere in the state, there's Randy Levine, the Yankees president, and Bill Powers, the former state chairman, who is one of two national committee representatives from New York along with Jennifer Saul-Rich.
