In a pre-Independence weekend press teleconference yesterday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced another push in a continuing effort to get federal agencies to improve their coordination and quality of services for those suffering the psychological scars of the wars abroad.

Some local data as she cited it:

"On Long Island, more than 750 new veterans suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, more than 700 suffer from traumatic brain injury, and more than 400 suffer from both, according to estimates based on data from the RAND Corporation.
