Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will have a chance to practice her Chinese next week.
New York's junior Democratic senator will go on a bipartisan congressional delegation to South Korea, China and Japan the first week of September, her communications director Bethany Lesser confirmed after South Korea's largest news service, Yonhap News Agency, broke the news last week.
Traveling with Gillibrand will be Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Terri Sewell (D-AL), the news service said citing congressional sources. Lesser said the trip will be "to discuss national security issues related to regional security and cybersecurity," but refused to provide any other details.
