Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano sent a strongly worded letter Friday to Gov. David Paterson asking that every possibly step be taken to make sure the Belmont Stakes goes on as scheduled June 5th.

It is “equine terrorism” on the part of the New York Racing Association to threaten to cancel the race, Mangano wrote.

“Please know that Nassau County will do everything in its power to avoid that result,” Mangano wrote.
